Employee Spotlight: Brad Beckman

Earlier this week, our team attended the Western PA VMUG UserCon 2017 and presented “VirtuVMUG usercon picalizing Graphics Acceleration via VMWare” with one of our leading partners, NVIDIA.

VMUG attendees were greeted at our booth by one of our in-house VMWare experts, Brad Beckman who was able to provide users with insight around latest industry trends and topics. Pictured with Brad, is A2U ’s director of IT consulting, Jarrod Clark.

Q: Where did you grow up?

A: I’m a military brat! I was born in Texas but I’ve lived in Georgia, Kansas, Maryland and Saudi Arabia. However, my family settled in the Gaithersburg/Germantown area of Maryland so I consider that my “home.”

Q: What’s the most rewarding/favorite part of your job?

A: Constantly using (and learning about) new technologies.

Q: Where did you graduate college?

A: University of Maryland, College Park (Go Terps!)

Q: What does leadership mean to you?

A: Bringing out the best in others.  A good leader can identify someone’s strengths and help develop their weaknesses.

Q: Do you have a personal philosophy or motto?

A: Don’t just do it, do it right. It’ll make your life easier in the long run – plus, it’s more satisfying to do the job the right way.

Q: What have been the top three highlights of your life?

A:

1) When I landed my first, “real” IT gig.

2) Meeting great colleagues over the years who have helped me along the way and taught me so much.

3) During college, serving as a climbing/rappelling instructor in the search and rescue group.
